Roaring Spring 100th Anniversary Book Intro

The residents of Roaring Spring extend a hearty "Welcome" to all the friends, relatives, and former residents who have returned to help us celebrate the Centennial Anniversary of our town. Roaring Spring, now "home" for some 3,000 people, began with a handful of pioneers in the early 1800's and incorporated as a borough on October 3,1887.

Blessed by nature with an abundance of natural resources, dedicated and hard-working people, and an ideal collection of schools and churches, Roaring Spring is today the industrial center of Morrisons Cove, an area serving 30,000 residents.

Named for the "roaring" sound of the natural spring gushing forth from a hillside on the southern side of town, Roaring Spring serves as a home base for several industries whose products are sent world-wide.

Many fine, modern homes mix with the buildings of yesteryear. The railroad tracks, many abandoned, others revived, along with trucking, serve both Roaring Spring and its sister communities throughout the area.

Roaring Spring is the crossroads for traditional as well as modern farms which in the surrounding townships create a picture for which only Mother Nature is famous.

A modern hospital, a nearby state-of-the-art county airport, advanced emergency medical vehicles and fire department services, new and expanding commercial establishments plus many small businesses are a few of the extras moving Roaring Spring into the 21 st Century. Roaring Spring is a community governed by dedicated people with traditional values and an understanding of the modern world.
